Information on user authentication

nethz-users (students)

Many functions on this homepage are only available for authenticated users. Students of D-MATL are allowed to identify themselves with their nethz-password by clicking the "nethz" hyperlink at the top of the page. The user account will be created after the first login.

Other Users

There are some persons and organizations who use special accounts. They can sign in by clicking "special users".

How can I sign in?

You can sign in by clicking "nethz" at the bottom of the page. If you are logged on at an ETH computer with your nethz credentials, particular browsers will not ask for your password. In this case, you cannot choose another user name.

If the browser requires your password, you will in most cases have to specify the domain you want to log on explicitly. Therefore you have to enter "D\username" or "username@D".

How can I sign off?

Closing your browser window will erase all your user credentials. This is the only way to sign off (for nethz-users). Because of the special nethz-authentication it is not possible to implement a safe sign-off procedure without closing the browser window.
